SIMON BONTEMPO
PRODUCT DESIGNER
A little about me
Experienced industrial design engineer with over 8 years of experience supporting automotive projects for Amazon, Xperi, and Karma Automotive through my employment at Studio63, a full-stack design studio. During my time at Studio63, I commercialized a variety of consumer products from idea through to production.
After graduating from Carleton University with a Bachelor of Industrial Design (BID) I began working for Studio63, a consulting firm in Ottawa where later I moved into a team lead role. Through Studio 63 I was allowed to work on industry-leading projects across North America. I have worked on various show vehicles for the Consumer Electronics Show (CES) 2019/2020 for companies such as Amazon, Xperi, Karma Automotive, and more. Furthermore, I worked on a project in Arkansas to develop and build two autonomous refrigerator vans (the first of their kind) to be tested for B2B transport for the Walmart HQ and surrounding stores. I am an enthusiastic hard worker who is excited for an opportunity to utilize my previous experience and communication, teamwork, and time-management skills for a forward-thinking and innovative company.

Since 2020, I have been working at Gatik, an Autonomous Vehicle (“AV”) startup, leading a combination of industrial design and mechanical engineering efforts to bring their fleet of class 3 to 6 autonomous vehicles to market. My experience in both industrial design and mechanical engineering enables me to approach industrial design with technical aspects of product functionality and structural requirements in mind and uniquely positions me to be successful in dynamic and fast-paced environments that require a multi-disciplinary skill set.
